BZHANG LAB
Engineered Tissue Assembly
The BZhangLab at McMaster University develops engineered human tissue models to improve how diseases are studied and how new therapeutics are discovered. Our research focuses on microphysiological systems, organ-on-a-chip technologies, and biomaterials that recreate key aspects of human physiology in vitro.
Our mission is to build scalable, physiologically relevant platforms that enable rigorous investigation of human biology, reduce reliance on animal models, and support more predictive preclinical testing. By integrating microengineering, stem cell biology, and quantitative analysis, we aim to generate reproducible datasets that can inform drug discovery, disease modeling, and precision medicine.
We are equally committed to training the next generation of scientists and engineers. Through interdisciplinary collaboration across academia, hospitals, and industry, our lab strives to translate fundamental engineering advances into practical tools that accelerate biomedical research and therapeutic development.
